One of the most eclectic spots in Vietnam, with a lot of history and atmosphere, and not overdeveloped (yet). The main commercial/tourist area is an architectural treasure, and ppears to have so far resisted the destructive elements of modern tourism. It is easy to get around on foot, wih a number of interesting historical clan houses and temples dating from the pre-colonial era. No worries as regards eating and drinking...Hoi An has many, many restaurants and bars catering for a wide variety of tastes and expectations. The central market is well worth a visit and look around. Hoi An is very well situated, close to the tourist/coastal city of Danang and not far from the former imperial capital of Hue. The archaeological Champa site of My Son is only ~1 hour away and a must see for anyone travelling in the area.rickMalaysia - 10Scored 10

Beautiful location with lots to do. Great tourist locations, Hoi an Memories Show is a must, coconut boats, river cruise are really good. We had food at both our hotel (Little Gem) and in local restaurants were we found the food excellent and great value for money. The city is gorgeous, perfect combination of beach experience, night market street, great food and friendly people. We had also great experience in using on of the famous Taylor shops with great results. We also watch local performance like Vietnamese bamboo circus attraction. Beautiful unique old town full of character and charm. There are so many hidden gems with restaurants that go way back into lovely garden spaces. People were so friendly and staying here was a blessing after staying in Ho Chi Minh for a few days. You really slow down and relax. Sadly we couldn’t see the covered bridge as it is being renovated.SSallyAustralia

But it’s very easily accessible using the free bikes Peanut and Thao provide. And provides you a rest from the louder areas. Peanut and Thao are lovely. Their breakfast is to die for. We had room 203 which has a window on the pool and the door leads straight onto a view on the rice paddies. Though not the season (early November), there were still buffalo grazing the fields. Scooters are available to rent on the corner just two doors down from the hotel. The beach and beach club across the street was the perfect place to hang out and enjoy some local life.

The pool is magic to cool off or just chill. Bring on happy hour. I returned to this hotel after a forced break due mainly to Covid. We were very pleased with our short restful time here. Easy to walk around the town. Also the hotel offers free bicycle use. I rode out to the beach area and witnessed the local population watch boat races!!

Motorbike/scooter are availalbe for small fee and bicycles are available for free. To get to rice fields, Old town and Hoi An main sites as well as the basket boats site, bicycle are enough ;-) . For beach scooter is better and for marble mountain perhaps a tour or a car ;-). Thanks again to the nice family for welcoming us :-) .
